    restoring an original XM607 stock

Some years ago, a good friend ( who was in the scrap/junk business) found some early Colt
plastic furniture at a salvage yard. There was one incomplete Colt XM607 stock. Production figures are very small on this extendable stock. A company called Total Silence produced a
really nice reproduction of this XM607 stock, providing some the internal parts to complete the original. Note the original color of the XM607 stock is gloss black.

The XM607 stock is installed on a early Colt SP1 semi auto in the photoAttachment 15817Attachment 15818Attachment 15816

So how do you rate it's functionality? Was it just before it's time or does it have serious downsides?

    Adjustable Length Buttstock

The early Colt extendable buttstock is complicated with all the parts used to reduce the length by only 2.7 inches. Also it is slower to operate the adjustment because the lever is located inside the rear of the buttplate. This was the first attempt to be able to reduce the total length.

But it is more comfortable because your cheek is always on the plastic buttstock. I find it
very handy in the reduced position over the later telescoping buttstockAttachment 15851Attachment 15850

That is some amazing and hard to come by furniture. I don't know of a single original 607 stock on anyones builds. All of the fellows that have put together 607 style rifles that I know of have used either TSI or my65pans reproductions. I have a my65pan butstock on mine. Here is my SBR, it runs great.
They start out looking like this:

And then after a little work they look like this:

When the stock is extended it has the same LOP as a standard A1.

Here is how the barrel was threaded and crowned.

Are there any productions records that would indicate how many XM607 stocks were produced ?
