New big fonts and "buttons" interfering with each other on "Mobile" setting

Whilst more readable, the "buttons" on the bootoms of the posts and the reply boxes are too big! The "reply", etc. box covers a fair amount of text. Also, when replying, the "submit post" button covers new post material if there's quoted material at the top. If you are a poor typer like me, that's gonna be a prolbem...Just a small change to the format woulfd correct this drama for those few of use stuck on old format computers.

    Thanks!

    Hi ...

I'm not sure what you're referring to ....

Here's pics of what I see when I select from the style chooser drop down box, the style for Mobile/Dial-up Slow Connections.

I checked it on actual computers running IE7 and IE8, as well as Apple Macs running OSX and also, iPhones, iPads and a few other cell phones.

    Regards,
    Doug

IF I knew how to do screen shots (On an IE6 computer with the non-wide screen monitor as well) I would send you an example. Looks like another IE6 drama, as this computer won't reproduce the problem. And, no!, the computers in question still can't be upgraded to more modern "IEs". We still use some DOS based systems of programs with a little graphics eyewash, too...(Not that we didn't try replacements for the old programs- it's just that the new expensive systems all were terrific failures!)

Dang, and the old "mobile" was serving well enough, too. Can't ever be easy!

Any quick tutorial link to do screen shots? Don't waste a bunch of time on it, I just can't spend lots of time experimenting at work.

Try cutting and pasting this into your browser line and see if it will change to the old Mobile Style for you...

To do a screen shot: hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it whilst pressing the PRT SCN key ( or something that looks like Print Screen) once. Let go of everything.
Open MSPAINT by either finding it in the menu or (assuming XP ) START - RUN and type: mspaint <then hit enter> Go to EDIT and PASTE TO NEW IMAGE. Save the baby as a JPG and the world is your oyster. You can paste into word and all sorts of things but paint is a good one to use.

Hee, haw! Well, whilst trying to figure out this instruction, I stumbled upon the text size button under "view" in the main toolbar. Hitting the next to smallest size got everything in order. Whoo-hoo!

Needs a little fine tuning, though- the reply window is readable, but the posts above are now a little too small. It's workable at this state, however- I'll just adjust text size as required.

    Hmmm ....

Are you referring to a text size button that's part of your IE6 Explorer browser software? I ask because in the Mobile/Dial-up Slow Connections user selectable style, I don't remember any option like that?

I know that a user can select Font Size when reading threads using the A+ and A- buttons that appear in the top right corner of the screen under the regular Dark, Medium (Default) and Light color styles.

Anyway, glad you have it sort of working for you ...

I am worried that within the next year, the vBulletin software may drop ALL support for IE6 due to security issues, so I'm hoping your company upgrades from the DOS operating system and IE6 before then.

    Regards,
    Doug

No it's the "Reply" and "Report Post" buttons that obscure text, esp. in short posts. Don't count on us upgrading the DOS based program any time soon- everyone's happy with it! Pure genius compared to newer stuff from the "ease of use" viewpoint, and it's abilities that are built in. It was actually developed in the 1970's by another company that we aquired in the '80's. Good enough for ISO 9001 and ISO 9001/2000 (I think that's the right ISO #s) purposes...

I think we're talking two different things ...

It's not important as long as you are able to adjust the font enough to be able to use the forums ...

    Regards,
    Doug
