    A typical 1911 rebuild.....

This appears to be a typical rebuild of the post WW II era. Most probably during the big rebuild of the Korean War era. Many of the rebuilds were sold through the old DCM program to NRA members... Note the miix of 1911 and M1911A1 parts...

    John,

Another beautiful pistol. How long have you been collecting 1911s? You sure have picked up some beauties.

I have been collecting for about twenty years. I had to get rid of my kids before I had enough money to begin collecting!!! I concentrate on 1911s that tell a story!! So I try to acquire firearms that first have a Navy connection and that I can identify with an individual, event or ship!! I am fortunate in that many of the firearms in my collection came to me!!! New in the box military pistols are interesting, however they are just guns without a story to tell... I would much rather have an old beat up Colt that was used for it's intended purpose, and has the documentation with it....

Here is an example, three NIB Remington Rands, a NIB Colt, and on the lower left an Ithaca that was issued to a surgeon in a MASH Unit in Korea, and a Colt that was carried by a P47N USAAF pilot in the Pacific during WW II........

Here is another example of a non military Colt. I have a letter from Colt that indicates this Super .38 was shipped to an El Paso hardware store for a Texas Ranger.. I coincidentally spoke to Ranger Rohatsch's grandson just last week...

I have been a serious collector within the last 20 years. These guns find ME!!! A lot of folks know what kind of guns I collect, and they find me. That is why I post photos of my collection on the various Internet Forums....
