The one about a source of good replica parts? When I go to my history and click, it says it does not exist.

I checked the logs and it appears it was deleted, as it appeared in a follow up post that you had found what you needed and asked for it to be deleted?

If there was confusion as to what your intention was, please accept our apologies ... ... and please feel free to re-post the question again ...

    Regards,
    Doug

Well, almost correct. I posted asking a source for parts. Then I edited and said I answered my own question. Then several members CADF(a long post with great pictures) and another talked about the problems with replica parts, then I explained that I could not afford to spend $300 for an original Type one sight and barrel band. I closed by asking if anyone had a well used original type one rear sight and barrel band for $50 each! (One can always hope!)

    Hmmm... even stranger ...

I can only find two posts (both yours) in the whole thread... the second one said "deleted" ...

Unfortunately, it was a hard delete do I can't link the thread back. Again, our apologies ...

    Regards,
    Doug

There was a post that must have been part of the thread that was deleted. I don't know if it was by imarangemaster or someone else; it was about their son's interest in ww2. I didn't have time to read it earlier this morning but was looking forward to reading how this young man was following in his fathers footsteps.

It looked to be an interesting story I hope the person that took the time to write it will repost it.

The long post was from cafdfw (Harlan). I received an email (subscription) of the thread this morning. I just now went on the site to add a "thanks" to Harlan for the post, and couldn't find it. I still have the email and could forward it to Harlan in case he didn't keep a copy and wants to re-post. I hope he will, it was excellent. - Bob

Posted in the WTB forum for INEXPENSIVE used band and rear sight. I also considered doing a Type II rear sight, as my dad's carbine had the new rear sight on Iwo Jima.

    Dang!
It'll be a long time before I sit down and write another long story if those moderators are gonna that to me!

That is weird. I haven't checked the threads since I posted it early and I just came back to see if IRM had read what I wrote yet and responded.

FWIW, I followed up to Bubba's post. Bubba posted after IRM's first two posts. IRM had already deleted his first two posts, but we knew what he was asking about. Bubba made a good post and warned him about fake parts with personal experience, and I only wanted to give my 'personal experience post' along with a few other thoughts on the subject that I've been wanting to discuss for a while. A couple of things, including a safety issue I found that few would think about have been bothering me for a while so I thought I should finally contribute.

I've seen a few posts downgrading the motives some re-enactors have on some other web sites (by only a few) so and I also gave my opinion about that subject because it was somewhat related to my experience with the repro M1A1icon I worked on for my son a few years ago.

It was a long post (long winded) though, and I don't want to reinvent it again if i don't have to. If USGI has a copy of the text and wants to email me at cafdfw@yahoo.com I still have the photos and I'll put it back together again if anyone wants to see it.

(And if the mods won't delete it again)
