Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

My hopes and prayers go out to those people. Earquakes can be like war zones. A lot of people are trapped in building in ChristChurch. The news reports say well over 200.

I'm claustrophobic and can't imangine how bad that must be. Not only that but it's hot and water is scarce. Pretty ugly.

I wish you all the luck in the world right now.

To Our Kiwi Friends - Christchurch Earthquake.

I do tend to rubbish the Kiwis a lot but they went through a very serious earthquake in Christchurch this morning. Less on the Richter Scale than the September 10 quake but shallower and closer. Last count was 65 Fatalaties.
I hope that everyone is safe and well and their families too.

    NZ eathquake thoughts

When I heard about the earthquake I was dis-heartned to hear of the damage to life and property. I wish the people of NZicon all the best for the outcome of this disaster. I will say a prayer for all.

Hi, I'm in Auckland, out of range for this one; we have an airforce base near here and they've been ferrying wounded from Christchurch to hospitals in Auckland, and ferrying all kinds of emergency personnel back out again, some who are flying in from other countries, so our local motorway, far from the center of the action, has been a busy bit of road for vehicles with flashing lights etc, it brings it all home.

After being so lucky last time, now we have the worst of situations here in that it happened at 12.50 midday when everyone was about.
Amazing the life changing events that can happen in seconds.

FYI Its the morning after, 23 hours later, the numbers are 65 dead, not all confirmed, plus 300 missing, probably within the pancaked buildings. One building CTV, had 100 people in it, was 5-7 stories is now just 15 feet high and an unrecognizable pile of rubble, with a number trapped inside making contact via cel phones. I know it all happened yesterday but its still unfolding, like a slow motion car wreck.
FYI Christchurch is a colonial city with churches, white picket fences and well tended gardens. Older buildings are brick which comes loose and collapses in a quake.
I know all this is OT to the forum, but the well wishes are much appreciated, and I'm sure by those down there. There's a number 303 enfield enthusiasts and gunsmiths etc in and around Christchurch who watch the forum, so I thought a small update not out of line, no doubt CNN and BBC will be broadcasting much more of all this.

Not at all OT to the forum, I think. God's grace on the people of Christchurch and those involved in the rescue work. My prayers and sympathy to all afflicted.
