Not that bad ,Geoff! See you with the "T"-challenge!

    Ulrich,

The T wasnt preforming like it should, trigger pull not crisp enough and was short on ammo (reloads), the Swiss K11, was ok, but where do you start with these regarding accuracy ? how much play should be in the barrel bush? etc, I forgot to mention there are some pics of the tag that is in the butplate on the Swiss forum.

Geoff, i had a free floating bore at my rifle and you have to check the aluminium ring, there is sometimes a lot of greenish dirt in it. Clean it and check if it is really round and has no dings or so. Important is that the action is tight to the wood and i made a bedding under the chamber for that reason. Check out that the barrel is really free when it is getting hotter. In my case the forestock was touching the barrel, but only after firing 15 or 20 rounds. After that the shots where wandering to one side at the target. After clearing all of this little problems it shoots around 1"-2" with the GP11 ammo. And i purchased a higher frontblade for 24 Euros at Schwaben arms.

    Free Bush Now!

    Geoff:

The bush at the front is nickel-silver. Which is why it goes greenish with verdigris. When I got my G96/11 it was clogged with the green gunge, so I had to clear it out. Which was awkard - as you cannot get it off the barrel, because of the front sight block! The bush should be a snug fit in the woodwork, but not touch the barrel. I suspect that your K31 is indeed binding somewhere. binding. A properly set up K31 firing GP11 ammo should be in the class 2MOA + PWF (i.e. whatever the shooter adds in inaccuracy - the Personal Wobble Factor).

Thanks for the info, the bush was clear but I suspect maybe too much play there?, will have a look see if it is binding anywhere, first job is to change the frontblade and go from there, think a lot has to do with the POA and the (PWF).

Regarding first impressions, I,m now on the look out for a K31.

Here´s my second one. Rifle was a No.4 MK.I* (T) Savage made from 1944. Not a original "T" a selfmade one. Sitting position front support by a sandbag. Had some troubles to place the coarse German 1 reticle of my 7x Kahles scope from the early 1945 at the black without a white center patch, but it is like it is.

    Thanks bigduke,

the next season will find some nicer targets for the "T" with a center patch! The grouping would include all 5 rounds at one place, i didn´t do that because you said that i otherwise may not longer play with the guys!

Just a thought for anyone wanting to make up a mount for a long eye relief scope, I found this some time back, it may be of use for a few with some machining skill etc, see link below.
