    New Lithgow MKIII

Been keeping an eye out for one of the WWII Lithgowicon MKIII's and finally nailed one today at an on-line sale.

    Auction description advised:
Cal. 303 Britishicon. S# E8652. Front of receiver has "A" broad arrow "F". Dated 1942. Nice appearing arsenal rebuild. Appearing unused since. Bolt handle numbered differently. CONDITION: all aspects near excellent with a good to very good bore.

Better pics and description when it arrives.

That's the way to get them, now find a bayonet to match. And clips and sling...

Maybe a new nose cap as it appears to have had the bayonet boss and mount removed, or is that just how the photo has been cropped?

    Here are some pics...

Front piece is odd..no bayo lug or small round "thingy" in front

Marked "BA", as are a number of small parts.

It looks as though the woodwork has been power sanded to within an inch of its life! Pic 5 and 6, the wood should always be proud of the metalwork

Wow, that no bayonet capability having nose cap changes the whole look of the package. Weird, almost! But if you go looking for a replacement, the "windowed" sight protectors are distinctly Australianicon.

Interesting that your rifle has the same A F marking I questioned in my post regarding my 1941 Lithgowicon. If you're going to shoot it, let us know how it does.
