    martini enfield question

Not sure if this should be here or the Enfield forum so I thought I'd try both. I heard at the range on saturday, when I was bemoaning the lack of martini enfield's which have a decent bore, that the thread on the martni enfield action are identical to the SMLE, and that I should get a ME and add in and SMLE heavy barrel Ihave hanging around. Anyone tried this? anyone have any success? is it possible to get the look f teh ME back and fitthe wood to it and how does it shoot?

Yes it will work. You will have to cut extractor relief and set the chamber deeper. Once in a while you will have to cut the shoulder back a little to get the sights to line up

Unless you used a long Lee barrel, you won't be able to fit the wood or "get the look" back. However you can fit SMLE wood for the forearm without too much trouble. There was a very late emergency conversion along these lines and it is a quite popular project for those desiring a good Martini shooter in .303.
