AD marking on peddle scheme MkIII.

Some time back, I posted some pics of an all matching, seemingly all original 1917 peddle scheme that I own. The rear of the receiver, above the SSA, is the marking AD. this marking is quite prominent for where it is. I have looked EVERYWHERE for some reference as to what it stands for or signifies, to no avail. Needless to say it has just about run me crazy. I have tried to look up my old post to show the pic, can't find it, will probably have to take a new pic. Does anyone have a peddle scheme with this marking? Anyone have a clue as to what it may be? Please help me regain some sleep!

Mine appears to have EFD and the broad arrow (plus a couple of letters or numbers too small to read) stamped above the SSA mark. The E and F are quite faint but the D is stamped clearly. Kinda hard to read but that's what it looks like.
    Yours is definitely an A?

Definitely an A. In fact, I stated wrongly that it was above the SSA. The AD is on the other side of the receiver rear. Lettering is roughly the same size as the SSA. It is stamped as A.D

Mine has the letter C stamped on the other side(or a badly stamped 0). Again with EFD above it.
