    Enfield Stock Questions

First off hey I'm making my first post here. I've recently purchased my first Enfield. After the research I've found it an Indian made 2A1 7.62x51. This rifle has been sporterized poor may I add. I had told the wife she could have this rifle and she wants the stock as original as possible. My question to you experts is do I need to find a 2A1 stock or will others fit? I'm willing to shave and to mnor mods to the stock if needs be. I've been on a couple sites includding ebay but everything appear to be a No.1 MKIII. Will the stocks work or no? Sorry for my ignorance but I bought this on a wim because I could pass the price up. If you could just point me to some web sites with stocks for sale would be great. Thanks for and help you guys can give me.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. A Mklll will work. I have an example posted on the Restorer's Corner. The Good, Bad, and Ugly. Ishapore 2a / 2a1. I would link it if I knew how that worked. I had to do some fit-up work to get the band to fit right (removed some wood). That was it. You do see a stock set come up once or twice a year on EBAY or Gunbroker for the Ishapore. 80-100 dollars would be about what I have seen. I found the tiger striped set for 200.00 and thought it would be good for my project. Good Luck
