My English Girls from the 1950's

I took these pictures few years ago. I'll take better ones in the near future.
First one is an un-issued Irish Contract rifle. I got her still full of grease but minus the mummy wrap. So she got cleaned and I havent had the heart to put a round through her yet. Her sister wears a 1907 sling and isnt Irish Contract but her serial isnt too far off. She was issued and wears a walnut replacement front handguard and has faint unit stencils on her butt.

Both came from the inventory of an old China Marine I knew just about my whole life. He owned the best gun store I'll ever have the joy to enter. He passed about five years ago and I miss him everyday. He's one of the people that inspired me to earn my Eagle, Globe and Anchor in 1997.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail.
