That's good news. Hamburg is my local store, about 45 minutes away. We get up there every few weeks and with the big winter clearance sale, I was planning to head up that way this weekend.

Privi Partisan seems to run about $14-$16 for most calibers. I don't often check the Hornaday ammo as it tends to be on the expensive side.

Made a trip to Sarco, the Allentown military gun show and Cabela's today trying to round out the Arisaka. After checking ebay and other sales sites and deciding that a monopod that as of this minute with three days to go is bringing $136.67 and a dust cover with three hours to go is bringing $177.50 I decided I'll be content with reproduction parts until I can get one with a mum.

I picked up a sling from IMA for $14.95, a cleaning rod from IMA for $8.95, a dust cover from Sarco for $17.95, a monopod from Sarco for $29.95 and a box of Hornaday ammo from Cabela's for $26.95 (not real happy about that) so with the exception of the aircraft sight wings, I'm set to go.

The monopod fits perfectly, lines up with the dents in the wood and is very good quality. The only issues with it were some difficulty driving the pin out of it so it could be mounted and I had to file a small amount of material off the inside so it would fit the lug. The dust cover also fits well, moves well and I only had to remove a very tiny amount of metal from the hole around the bolt so it would close smoothly. Working the bolt a few times actually took care of that. No issues with the cleaning rod or the sling.

Obviously, everything looks new, might stain the sling and polish some of the bluing off the metal parts but for now I'm going to leave it alone.

Sarco is a bit hard to describe. They advertise in the Shotgun News and that's how I found them. They have a ton of parts for all sorts of things. Their new showroom in Easton, PA is smaller than I anticipated but they have some interesting things in there to look at. I was envisioning some sort of warehouse with everything in bins on shelves in isles you walk down but it's not that large, there aren't any bins and the isles are pretty wide. Staff was very helpful and able to find all the things I was after that they had pretty quickly. They have a fair selection of milsurps but seemed to be either high end or low end with little in between. Prices seemed good on some, and a bit high on others but all in all not bad.

The Allentown military gun show was nice in that they had a huge selection but bad in that they had nothing I was after and the prices on things I was familiar with seemed on the high side, very high in some instances. Everything in Allentown seemed expensive. McDonald's wanted about $2 more per value menu than we pay about 50 miles to the south. I would have enjoyed looking around there more but with my wife along I didn't want her waiting on me too long. I looked for what I was after, a K31, a MAS 36, a #5 jungle carbine bayonet and an Arisaka sight, found none except a rebuilt late production MAS 36 with grenade launcher, not what I am looking for.

Cabelas apparently doesn't carry the Privi Partisan in 7.7 Jap, they have most other common military calibers but not that one or the 6.5 Jap. They have both in Hornaday and both are around $26 a box. As for milsurps there, NONE, except for the 91/30's and that one Mitchell's was still sitting on the shelf. Today made my 5th trip where they had little to nothing in good milsurps.

I just won an auction for an original sight so that's taken care of. Probably keep my sight and just swap out the aircraft wings.

All the parts are in and installed so this is the finished project. I have more in the accessories than I do the rifle at this point but I think it looks great. Would prefer original parts but as an original monopod just sold for $177, that isn't likely. Cleaning rod, monopod, sling and dust cover are reproductions. All appear to be high quality. Aircraft sights are original. I just swapped them off a near complete sight. Seller said one side needed tightening but what it really needed was two parts which my original sight had so no major problem for me.

Tried to get a nice shot of the bore but this skill is beyond me at this point. Took about 20 pictures and this one is the best of the bunch. After taking it, I noticed all the dust in there. After cleaning it out, it seemed too shiny to get a decent photo, didn't get a usable photo after that.
