long branch 1942 no4 mark1* serial numbers and a few markings.I need some Id help.
Hi every one just became a member a few days ago.Great forum well here's my mark1*bought this in 2005 from a pawn shop for 150$ have never fired it I did have the head space checked it was at spec.My question's are the two sets of serial # on the stock band the bolt handle one set i know is the original serial number.as for the markings all are LB excluding the magazine and a V penciled on the side of cocking button.Any advice would be greatly helpful. thanks

The rifle has been to New Zealand hence the NZ inventory #. Nice looker and is a reasonably early *

The rear sight has been changed at some point, and the magazine is not correct for a No.4 Mk.1 - more like for a No.1 Mk.III (plenty of others here know WAY more than I do about the different magazines - then again, so does yeast...), Apart from that, the rest looks right for a 1942 Long Branch that went to New Zealand (I just sold mine to pay for a surgery and wished I'd kept it now - grrr). The early button-type cocking piece is very nice to see.
