if i were to sell it do you suppose it would sell for a higher price "cleaned up" or left in its own state..its own patina... also how do you know if the metal saw heat treatment, what are things to look for? i'd like to know if the gun would be safe to fire?

That would depend who end's up buying it. I would do a little cleaning but leave all patina

i'll be uploading some pictures prolly next week, i hope some people can tell me more than i already know. i'll photograph it all... I'm 90% sure it's a 02/45. overall condition is good. description... no serial numbers, mum intact, 5 symbols under mum intact, arsenal mark intact, and inspection marks barely visible, 3 small stamps at the pistol grip stock location ( 1 appears to be the osaka stamp, other two being anchors).... rejected barrel with "X" stamp formally found on type 02/45, barrel step with a "B" and a "circle with a triangle in it". the bolt is definitely a type 35 naval. strong rifling, adjustable rear sights (trainer sights), upside down "V" front sight. looks as though the stock has been refinished, good stock overall though no cracks. possible cosmoline on internal parts. NO RIBBED barrel. NO dust cover rails. metal forged butt plate w/ 2 screws, type 30 bayonet with wood sheath(has serial numbers, and arsenal mark), no blood grooves. ( in poor condition) cleaning rod still present. NO "screw like" muzzle....... any and all comments will be greatly appreciated

this! historic firearms are not like classic cars. the more you clean, the more the value goes down.
