Bolt Steel Lot Codes & Other Bolt Markings

    I've referenced Vi Shooter's/John Beardicon's tables & can't locate a couple of bolt markings I've come across:

    A) "H" on underside of (straight-handled bolt) safety lug; and
    B) "U" on underside of an SA-marked, HO 16 bolt. (Also has shell & flame.)

    TIA,
    Bill

    1. Are you sure the marking isn't an H1 or H2? Sometimes the markings on the safety lugs isn't very clear.

    2. The U on the underside is probably a sub-inspection stamp. The HO16 is the "key" marking.

    Rick,
I looked again at the "H" and I scrutinized the remaining surface area; nothing there at all. The "H" is evenly & clearly struck.
I suppose it may have been intended to be marked as an "H 1" or an "H 2"...
    Who can say?
    Thanks for your response.
