    Arisaka Type 99 parts needed

Picked up a Type 99, my first Japaneseicon rifle, and I need the front hand guard--tow parts as best I can tell. Anyone parting out a Type 99 or can steer me to a (reasonable) parts source? This is in decent shape, complete except for hand guard(s) and cleaning rod. Not a pure collector's piece (the Imperial mum is removed), but worth having, Thanks

Rmasters3-- The wood for these rifles is the hardest part to find and priced almost as much as a complete rifle. I have bought several sporterized T99's and looked for the same pieces you are looking for. I finally made the handguards and forestocks from light colored walnut and they look presentable. You'll have to come up with the monopod band and the bayonet band. The woodwork is fairly straight forward. Rout or otherwise cut the barrel channel in your blank. Next fit the bands and then you can contour the wood between them to match. You can copy an orginal orin a pinch work to good pictures. takes a little effort but I think these rifles are worth it. I went the eBay route and with a large amount of patients I was able to get what I needed for what I was willing to pay. Don't get in a bidding war and only bid what you are willing to pay and eventually you'll win. I even got a type 99 stock for $75 when the winner didn't pay.

    Wood for Type 99 Arisaka

Go to the schematic of an Arisakaicon and let me know the wood you are specifically looking for. I might be able to help you.
