Possible(???) Japanese marking on Finnish M91.

Gentlemen, a few days ago, I posted some pics of a Finnish M91 I recently purchased. This rifle is built on an Izhevsk receiver dated 1900. Today I was giving it a good going over, and saw a marking that I had previously missed. It looks, to me at least, like a possible Japaneseicon marking. As the Russo-Japanese War began in 1904, would it be possible that this rifle, when in original configuration, was captured by the Japanese, and then made it to Finlandicon by some untold means? There are also the remnants of another marking below the Imperial Eagle that I cannot make out. It appears to have been scrubbed. I dont know how well it shows up in the pic. Would love to hear some opinions!

Well, I agree that it does indeed look similar to the kanji symbol for "10,000". And I have not yet found an alternative.

Nor have I. It would thrill me to no end to find this has a Russo-Japanese War connection. BUT..mustn't get carried away! I certainly don't want to tell someone it does without finding out for certain.
