A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Ahh so...thanks very much! I guess mine's a Type III.

    Bruce,
    One correction,
The Type VI would have the Inland logo upside down.

And for those who aren't familiar with the Type VI, here's a exmple of a Inland.
Made by only Inland and WRA during WWII, that I'm aware of. Other makers housings can be found that were modified for the M2 kit.

    The upside down Inland logo:

Only The Right Rear Mag wall cut away to have clearance room for the Disconnector lever:

Back of left mag wall grooved for the selector spring (pig tail):

Inside floor base cut down deeper for the hammer:

Right outer hole counterbored to prevent binding with the disconnetor lever:

Lube/Drain hole, also found on the Type V housings, and most modified (even if not made for M2) housings:

    Charlie,
Weren't the SA M2 housings made late WWII?
I can't remember for sure but I thought that was the case.

Sorry to bump up this old post, but I have a question about the Type VI Inland housing. I have a complete Inland group, all Inland parts filled with old grease. All parts show very minimal use, and hammer, sear, trigger, mag catch, and all small parts appear to be blued, including the springs. My trigger group shows all the features of the type 6, except the logo is horizontal. Not vertical or upside down. What do I have here? A minty converted Type III, or a weird Type VI with a horizontal logo?
