I guess I need to get on the Nodak Spud waiting list. Saw on another forum a rumor of 2000 M-16 parts kits coming to market. I would love to score a kit which whould add a bit of encoomy and originality to the project.
I took a complete SP1, put it on a California legal Noday Spud 601'602 slab side receiver. Added early mottled furniture. Colt 20 rounder blocked to 10 rounds and a bullet button.
Nice machine! That is exactly the look I am looking for. Looks like yout furniture came from the same bin as mine. I like the "been there" look. Might even wait a bit for a "blem" lower upper from Nodak If I cant find a parts kit.
I am a bit late to the dance, but here is my AR. I need to get the stainless barrel dura coated to match the rest. I built it from a surplus kit. Almost like the one I used in 73.
I'm not sure of the barrel maker, I purchased the kit from Sportsman's Guide, then picked up a YHM lower and a disconnect. Shoots nice when I compensate for front sight, it's a bit off and needs some adjustment. The barrel was not scored for the sight, but not bad for a first attempt at building one from parts.

I don't have an A1 anymore, but I do still have this A2 clone I built in the late 80's to national match specs to shoot service rifle matches with. Yep, it's got ALL the evil features. bayonet lug, flash hider and high cap magazines.
My build is"retro-ish",does that count?I ran out of cash, and couldn't find a 20"barrel,so I just took the pic to look like it has a barrel perhaps I'll find one someday? The lower is a mega gator, and although it is"modern"was cheap and will work.Hope I don't offend too many
