    Rock-Ola front sight help

Looking for help from those who have original Rock-Ola's with respect to front sights and their stake marks.

Need macro photos of stake marks to include -0- front sight pin and the rear flat of the front sight to show how the sight key is staked. Please also include serial number range and how marked, TR, RP, unmarked, etc. Thanks!

    David,
I have this 1st picture saved in a file. I do believe from the cardboard background it belongs to the ' King of Maze ', aka MR.
I don't have any other info listed about it.

    2nd Picture,
The Right site marked TR, is a loose one pulled from a RMC 1,71 that has type IA MR band.

    3rd pic,
Left one is the same TR, just showing the other side.

FWIW The other site is WRA.

Thanks Charlie. Can you show macro shots of the rear flat, where the sight key would be staked?

    David,
Wife has been gone with the only camera, due back tonight.
Only other picture I have of it, is below.
I have the loose TR sight in hand, no markings on the back.
Barrel shows a single chisel type ( _ ) marking, where the key was rear ended.

    CH

TR is top one, WRA bottom:

    David,

This came off a shot out Blue Sky barrel on a 4,538,XXX. I don't have the barrel anymore to look at the keyway area. No marks on the back across the key slot.

Thanks Jim! Your loose RP milled front sight was originally supplied laterally to another prime contractor.

Your 4.5 stamped is precisely what I'm looking for in my data search! Excellent photos. Thanks very much!

Basically comparing similarities of stake marks on the sight pin along with the sight key at the rear. Also looking at minor staking differences between milled and stamped front sights; preferably Rock-Ola front sights that are original as manufactured to Rock-Ola barrels. All help is greatly appreciated

    David,

I knew that was for the other contractor, one big give a way on the left side. I only have a couple of those. But it did come off a Blue Sky barrel that was on a Rock-Ola receiver. Maybe someone's attempt to do a poor restoration? Been in the parts box maybe 20 years now.

Two of my other Rock-Ola's have Winchester sights not original. I have another 4,574,XXX that my sheet shows has an RP on it. But I'll have to unload another safe to get it out.

It also could have been randomly installed when arsenal reworked. Still a very desirable front sight for someone wishing to restore the right carbine!

There are unfortunately many restorations out there when it comes to Rock-Ola. Having good data on original Rock-Ola front sights, as originally installed by Rock-Ola on original Rock-Ola barrels like your example above, helps very much. This data will ultimately be submitted to the CC.
