    I recognise those repairs to the toe and heel. Done hundreds of them! Mind you, if that's all that's wrong with the butt, I'd just re-patch and keep it

    Don't worry, I'm not going to throw it away! As you note, it's fixable. It was the front wood on my No. 5 that was bubba'd up. (What a useful euphemism.) I had to order a complete set of original wood in order to get that. Having paid for original wood, I wasn't going to settle for the less expensive repro. At some point, after I finally finish the project, I expect I'll have no trouble finding a good home for whichever buttstock I don't use.

    I received the stock set from SARCO today 6-12-12. The forearm and handguard are in excellent - used condition. Some cosmolineicon in the interior. The buttsock looks new but has several stamps on it like broad arrow etc. and numbers.

    Just reporting in.
