    I think it's a Model 18/Pattern 18 scope and he may have a scope cap on rear ocular housing. On OG end I think has the Rubber eyeshade perhaps with an extension that was available hence the apparent droop of the extension in picture and flared end on extension.

    I think you're right about the tube. I was trying to remember where I had seen that flared end on such a tube sunshade and sure enough, it's in "The U.S. Enfield" by I.D.S.

    You might well be right about the cap too.
