My work No5 has a No4 butt on it. Quite a kitten really compared to the 12guage coach gun or 12gauge rifled barrel slug gun.

I used to feel the recoil of the No.5 was a bit on the extreme side. Then I got a Ruger M77MkII in 338 Win. Mag. Fire a couple of the Federal 250gr. Premium with the Nosler Partitions then shoot the No.5 and suddenly it just doesn’t feel that bad. I know the 338 isn’t the heaviest recoiling round available but with the 250gr’s it sure gets your attention.

Try NEF Buffalo Hunter in 45-70. That tapered brass butt plate is a killer.
