No. 9 rifle
Remember when the NZDF auctioned off some No.8 & 9 rifles? well I was lucky enough to get a No.9, It cost me $950 (about $800 oz or us) - more than I really wanted to pay at the time.
Well, at the Antique Arms Auction held at Wellington 7 & 8 July, a No.9 sold for $4,000!
I guess that as there were only about 3,000 made makes these one of the rarer items around.

not as rare as one of 200 or one of 48 but it will go in with them and look at home.

I got one of the No8s that found its way back to the UK
, woodwork a bit battered, but mechanically in excellent condition.

My N9 cost me $900.00 CDN and I was happy to pay it as it's one of three I know of so far in Canada
. The only other one I've seen for sale was listed in the $1200.00 to $1800.00 range if memory serves.

There are more than three in Canada.....
I just figured out how to use Photoshop to knock of serial numbers. Not bad for an old guy, eh!.
Does anyone have the serial number of the one sold in NZ ? I think it was one I traded to a chap there about 20 plus years ago.
I tried to sell one here a few years ago and never got a nibble.....and it was cheap.
Now back to fixing the fences and hopefully I will shortly have some time to get back here and play a bit. Another month and I will be done!!!!!

I would have loved to have this one, but I just drained the "fun money fund" this past month.

I always assumed there was more than three here but in the years I've been collecting I've only ever come across the three. I some how knew in the back of my heat that you would have one. The fact you have two isn't as surprising as you might think. Thanks for posting the photo. I suspect you may find it a touch easier to sell if you wanted to list it again. It would sell in a blink if listed for a grand or less over on CGN.*
