Norwiegan Krag? need info

hey so i bought this a while ago and am now looking to sell/trade it and I'm trying to get a price and some more info on it.It's been sporterized and converted to .308 by globe firearms ltd. in ottawa but im trying to figure to what degree.I read somewhere that if the stocks been cut it reduces value aswell with the barrel, the barrel on this one is 22 inches and stock is 30.5 inches.

Any info will be greatly appreciated

Its. A Norwegian Krag converted to .308 Winchester By Globco in the 1960's, like you said.

I've read that the Krag Actions weren't made to handle High pressure cartridges like the .308 winchester.

They were made with one forward locking lug and a chamber pressure of 40, 000 psi
the .308 Win is 62, 000 psi I'm not sure. But you can see that the krag wasn't exactly designed for the .308 Winchester.

Have you shot it much?

I've seen a couple in the $150-$250 range, I bought a nice Globco No4 Sporter for $150 my favorite bush carbine.

I'd ask around on Gun Nutz, Some of the guys there remember the The Company and have more info on the Rifles they cobbled together.

yea ive shot it about 60-80 times and the bolt didnt blow my face off and no small cracks in the lug anywhere

Norwegian Krags and US Krags are horses of a different color. The Norwegian used a second locking lug and is rated for higher pressures than the US Krag. A google will give you the specifics or DeHass's book or Brophy's should explain it. As to being strong enough for 308, not sure I would use iot, but they were standard in 6.5 Swede.

The CIP MAP for the 6.5 × 55 is 380 MPa (55000 PSI). SAAMI MAP for this cartridge is 46,000 CUP or 51000 PSI.[2] All Swedish Mauser actions were proof-tested with a single 6.5 × 55mm proof load developing approximately 55,000 CUP (66,000 psi).[3]

The rifle is NOT a conversion of an original Norwegian Krag with a cut-down barrel.

It is a modern sporter, made by fitting a new Austrian barrel in 308 WIN to a Krag action. Proofed in Vienna in 1959, i.e. in accordance with the 1958 proof law that requires centrefire rifles to be proofed with a load that develops a pressure 1000 bar (14223 psi) above the strongest commercial cartridge available at the time. If you want to load hotter than that, it's your funeral!

This rifle was reborn as a .308 in 1988 and it will indeed handle all factory .308 ammunition. I am currently refinishing the stock down to wood to prepare it for a nice flat finish. It will get used this fall...........karl
