Reising .22 pistol

I have a Reising .22 pistol with serial number 1000. I uderstand the ser. numbers began at 1001 and went to 4000, but my now deceased Dad said it was the prototype. How can I ascertain this. The grips are excellent, not much blue and no pitting. Hasn't been fired in over 30 years and a few guys at Melbourne FL gun show today really liked it. What is the approximate value if it is the prototype? Thank you, GDoerner@cs.com

I have no clue what it's worth and I've never even heard of one. But do you have pics? It might help the others.
