Guns and Ammo Surplus Firearms, latest and LAST issue out

Just picked it up today. Says it is the last ever issue which since I just discovered them about a year ago is disappointing to me.

Wow thats wierd. I picked mine up today also. and was reading the farewell article about the time you were putting this post up. I am dissapointed too. I have only got it about three times and really liked it. Other than shotgun news it was the only other magazine I buy anymore.

Sad news for sure, was given a subscription for a few years by my daughter and family and read it off and on for over 50 years.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

The good news is now there is another magazine. It's called Military Surplus I got the premier issue the other night. It looks like it may be a preety good one so far. Although I'm not sure where they are gonna go from the first issue it has the Garandicon,K98icon.M1911,S&WM1917 just to name a few but I look forward to seeing the next issue.

Lots of fluff. Very little new. I had to laugh when I saw the Czechicon bolt in the Kar98kicon. Not too sure they saw that bolt.

There is a truism in publishing about the length of time a magazine publisher will have a reader's attention. It is usually measured in months and years, not decades. There are exceptions of course, but if you have any favourite titles, you will likely see a lot of recurring content. The editors will assign the stories and viewpoints a year in advance. The writers are the keyboard monkeys whose name is on the page; the editors have the final say on the content.
