    Nice find in Dads shed



    I was cleaning out dads shed and found these 2 in pretty good condition I might use the 303 one for my 303 reloading components

    The bottom one is a rare beauty. In Oz, .45 ammo was only made in one or two plants in WW2 and made up a vanishingly small percentage of total ammo consignments.. Even empty, those containers are very useful. airtight, water tight, incredibly tough. You could probably air-drop them sans-parachute from low altitudes.

    I think they were post war they have a lable inside the lid from RAAF Laverton

    NRA - I wish . . . . . . . Dad worked for the Defence Department but only brought home empties, in a previous house he had an entire wall of his workshop stacked floor to ceiling with 25 pounder shell boxes as a storage rack

    They're galvanized and waterproof if the seal is intact, so would last for ages, even buried if you wanted to squirrel the family treasure away or something. This is the lever opening catch on the lid?
