    Welcome to your comments about a RR marked RIA

    I saw this RR M1911-A1 for sale, well on these pictures, we can see this 1944 pistol has been send to RIA (Rock Island Armory) Is this gun lost his value for that. And what they normally do at the Arsenal, just clean or re-parkerizing, or just check the gun.
    What your opinion and advice for this gun sold at $1000.00.
    Thanks to all.

    The pictures that were up looked like the Ithaca in an earlier thread.

    The pistol doesn't appear to be in too bad of condition. It looks like it is marked "RIA" only, so it went through Rock Island Arsenal well after WWII ended. I suspect it was refurbished at that time, but there isn't enough detail in the photos to say for sure. Markings still look nice and sharp. So...? Here in the U.S., that would probably sell in the $1K+/- price range based on the photos. The value of a refurbished pistol is reduced, compared to one that is all original finish with correct parts.

    Thanks for your comments Scott, well the gun is now in Switzerlandicon, so it means after the WWII this gun went back to US at RIA, and send again to Switzerland, very hard to know...
    Just a thing, as I do not know much, what you mean by $1K+/- means 1000.00 more or less?
    Anyway better to find a one without any arsenal marking, but It's a hard work to find a pistol with correct parts.

    About this M1911A1 refurbished at RIA we often can see beside inspectors initials like FK or other but not all the times!
    Was it a habit on that kind of pistol that the serial number was misaligned after the NO

    About the serial number misalignment after NO. for the M1911A1 Remington rand I checked the followings;
    Until 1000xxx +/- the S/N are aligned from NO.
    From 1300xxx to 1800xxx +/- serial number misalignment down NO.
    From 1890xxx +/- S/N aligned to NO. to the end in 1945
    Have you remarked this change of marking numbers.
