Eddystones - owned by NY State Police

Newbie to this forum, hello.

I collect firearms and gear used by the NY State Police since their inception in 1917.

I am trying to obtain an Eddystone that was used by that agency. After the war, the agency made a purchase of surplus Eddystones and distinctively marked them on the rifle's butt plate. Years later they were disposed of.

Any help in this regard is appreciated.

Sounds neat. I've seen one in person and other pictures of a WWII S&W Victory model that was surplused out to some Civil Defense function and so marked and then acquired by the Seattle Police Dept. and marked one more time. It was originally a Navy marked Victory. A lot of history in something like that.

sorry for the late post, I was killing time at work and surfed the 1917 threads.

I collect Boston Police Guns, mostly revolvers, have 18 so far back to 1909. I have a picture with 6 BPD officers with Thompson's a potato digger machine gun, a flare gun, and 2 1917's

Boston marked all their guns BPD and a rack number.

I also have a CT State Police Victory Model from 1943 with factory letter.

What would the markings be?

New twist to the history as it had not occurred to me other markings other than the exported ones that came back.

Thanks for keeping a eye out - the agency initials and often a property number were stamped on the but plate.

I have a nice Eddystone and was going to keep it until I found a NYST marked example. It is seeming less likely I will locate one and with room in the safe becoming scarce I think i will try to sell the one I have locally.
