Try looking at the CMPicon forum page. They had some information a few years back.

Accurate 5744 is a bulk powder that will NOT work in the carbine with any weight lead or jacketed bullet. Accurate only lists it for use in cases such as the 45-70 so it can take up space in the large cases. In accurate powders use #9 which is about the same as H110 or use 4100.

I don't like shooting lead in a gas-operated gun. If the M1 Carbineicon gas port or gas block leads-up, you could ruin the barrel by just removing the piston and putting it back to clean. The Carbine is getting too valuable to shoot anyway for the most part.

    Agree with Inland44.
I know many do, but I stay away from cast bullets.
The cost of factory FMJ ammo is cheap compaired to ruining the piston threads.
And if you load your own you can get FMJ 110 gr bullets for about $136 per 1000.
