I've got over 2k of steel surplus 7.62x39 through my XCR in the last 5 months, this last year I've been only shooting Hornady steel .223 out of my AR, and the last 250 rounds I've run through my M14icon have been Chinese steel cased.

No ammo related problems to report.

The 1911 A1 was never designed to shoot steel cased ammo. The steel cased ammo made by the government was for an emergency situation that never happened. The steel case was never released for combat and only for in states use and training. We gave most of it away to allies post war and in fact a few years ago a bunch of it came back from South Americaicon in sealed spam cans all made by E.C. Steel cased ammo is not a problem with bolt action rifles that have big extractors like the 98's and such.

There is the answer to Aragorn243's question, methinks.
