    bangstick PM'd me as to what the Finns did differently. Not that much on pure 91/30s, but earlier Mosins they had a number of modifications. Wider bands, additional band retaining screws, completely different nose caps in some instances. It's not like the problem didn't exist back then. It just seems to have received minimal attention in the USSR.

    New band spring installed. Although I'm not too sure it is any better than the old broken one Well see the next time I take it out for a test drive
