    Irwin Pedersen Stock question

I read where Irwin Pedersen was supplied with some stocks from Rockola [RMC]
Does anyone have any pictures of one of these stocks [Especially the slingwell]or has seen one. I did see a Irwin Pedersen marked stock but in the sling well it had RSG in the sling well
but the size of the letters were not the small font in a box. Any help is greatly appreciated.Since there is so much forgery out there I am not sure what to look for on a Korean war rebuild that is an Irwin Pedersen

RMC did send 1000 stocks to IP during early production in December 1942 and Inland 100 in November 1942. After that it was Robert Irwin made stocks. These were marked with two different sizes of letters and two different ways with the same letters, IR-IP and IP-RI. Both are correct for an original IP stock and they are not in a box in the sling well. After S'G' took over the stocks were marked RSG similar to the RMC stamp.

Bruce, your opinion on this ! I have been reading the books as you know, but can't find an answer. When RMC sent the 1000 stocks to I.P, did they send HANDGUARDS as well. Looking for any evidence that they did ?. The reason, the only I.P I have ever laid hands on, pics of which you have seen, has the IR IP stock but an RMC handguard. No one has ever questioned the integrity of this Carbine yet, however that RMC handguard may be out of place. My question .... Could it be genuine to the Carbine (looks like it is) or more likely a replacement for the original, more questions for us to research ! I'd be interested to hear from anyone else with the same problem. Thanks. Mike.

Mike, I would guess and it's only a guess that while it could be I doubt that it is. One would assume that the 1000 RMC stocks would have included a like amount of handguards. I would say those would have gone on the RMC stocks. But then there is the possibility that one or more RMC stocks could have been damaged so a few RMC handguards were left over and used on IP stocks or the handguard could have been changed during a GI cleaning party so in reality who knows what could have been.

Thanks for your opinion Bruce, appreciated ! I'm thinking about that "Bottom of the Bin" discussion we all used to have a few years back. Mike.

FILO-LIFO First in, last out. Last in first out. This is a theory on a lot of parts placement back then and even now. The WWII jeep community accepted it years ago.

Thanks rpw ! Your comment is really exciting. Something I have been working on for a long time. Will do my homework and get back asap. Have kept a list of other I.P folk I have met over the last ten years approx. Any comments on underneath handguard markings on I.Ps V stocks etc always of interest. Happy Elections Folks ! Mike. N.
