Beh Binoculars - Any information gratefully received

My grandfather was given these binoculars by a friend whilst recovering in hospital from a shrapnel injury towards the end of world war II. He recently passed away (not from the shrapnel wound!) and these were passed on to me - He never said much about them other than saying that it was possible they may have belonged to a U-Boat captain. The research I have done doesn't seem to point in that direction but I was hoping that someone on these forums may be able to help me out? I still don't have a very clear picture on who may have used them

The binoculars themselves are in perfect condition. They still function smoothly and the image through the lenses is completely clear save for a couple of black specks. They pretty much stayed in the case for 60 odd years!!
You can see the harness for the case has snapped off and I also think that there would normally be rubber guards on the eye pieces - these are missing.

I'm sending an email to Leitz as well to see if they have anything on file for the serial number.

Is it worth having these valued for insurance purposes - I have no real idea as to there value?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Just noticed picture 4 is way out of focus - sorry.
    Anyway - it says
    1944 Beh
I think I figured out what that might imply
