M1884 Springfield Trapdoor Need advice

I am looking at purchasing a Springfield trapdoor and was wondering about this one on gunbroker.com Just would like to know its originality and if this would be a good buy. I'm new to this era of firearms and would appreciate any help. Thank you. Chad

Over here, if it was a shooter that would be a bargain. But a warning sign for me is the phrase "in pretty good condition for its age". Which, if you discover anything wrong - like non-existent or badly worn or rusted rifling, will be rephrased as "what do you expect for that age?" In other words, it's a rubber statement that can be bent both ways.

I would specifically ask about the condition of the barrel, as that is something that you cannot judge from the photos. I also note that on the advert the seller is marked as "FFL holder". So if he refuses to be specific about the barrel and tries the "I know nothing about guns" excuse, take that as a red flag.

chad, the first thing that catches my eye is the lock plate [US SPRINGFIELD] is bougus.
the screw on the hamer is wrong.
