What did you use on the stock? My son's was blonde and when he refinished it he put mop and glow on it. It looks great albeit not correct. The two look very close.

That is the original finish but I wipe down all my old wood with Vaseline believe it or not I really like the way it moisturizes the wood and old leather especially.

Romanian stocks are not the red laquer of the Russian
rifles. More of a natural finish but still just as soft and easily scratched.

The whole gun really puts the Russian
production to shame. Fit and finish are awesome and the stock is of larger demensions. Then of course is the sling which I like but that whole dog collar idea, WOW what an idea that was. Stock stain and finish is still weak and easily damaged but at least it's more pleasing to the eye. I have not shot any of my Mosins except one old sporterized M44 so it will be interesting to see how they compare on the range. I hope my shoulder holds up!
