    Chinese 7.62x54R (lots of pics!!!)

This arrived today. Chinese 7.62x54R from Canadaicon Ammo.

The case markings are non-typical. Note the conventional Chinese markings on the bottom line and the different style stenciling above that. I wonder if it was marked that way for a customer by the Chinese or it's found it's way to us through eastern Europe and been re-marked along the way. According to the sticker I pulled off, it was imported by Marstar. One of the wood cases was in terrible condition with what looked like plaster applied into some of the cracks.

I'm quite happy with this purchase and can't wait to try some out.

    Thanks to Canada Ammo!

Anyone recognize the language in the top 3 lines of markings?

The spams cans have a fair bit of oxidation and the pull handles are rusty.

    Cardboard over the ammo packets.

    22 packets of 20 rounds.

No sign of oxidation or moisture on the inside of the cans and the ammo is bright and shiny.

A .50 BMG can will hold 30 packets perfectly, for a total of 600 rounds to a can.

It's nice to shoot after years of Hungarianicon heavy ball beating me to death. Haven't benched it for accuracy yet.

Found out the non-Chinese markings are actually Albanian. It had a roundabout trip to Canadaicon.

I am trying to decide whether to buy a case of this stuff. I have one of those recently imported Mosin PU refurbs that I am really enjoyng shooting. I have had good groups with some Czechicon ball, but hard feeding on occasion, pretty decent groups with Bulgarian light ball. How is the recent Chinese stuff shooting? I know reloads work better, but I'm reloading for my 348 Winchester for spring bear and would rather spend my other play time shooting!

Chinese made for Albania ( good political and ideological allies).
Cartridge cases are Copper-washed steel, Berdan .217" primers, and corrosive.

Tula .217" Berdan primers ( KV762N) are available from Dagammo.com (USAicon) and some other US distributors...Don't know if anyone in Canadaicon imports Tula primers.

Steel cases can be reloaded ( once or twice) before necks crack. Annealing ( with Air cooling--no dunking in water) has little or no effect on cracking.

We usually reload fired Chinese cases as Bolt-action Rifle Blanks (CH4D crimper) for re-enactors.

No. Banned from importation by Executive Order, IIRC.
