    A Dick Tracy "special'...

    From 1939...one of ca. 5100 military procured Detective Special revolvers. Thankfully, it wasn't stored in a holster. Period correct box, but a few numbers off.

    That's quite educational! I've been nosing through Colt books for a wee while, but but somehow missed mention of these revolvers. But my only Detective Special is a rather more worn Pre-war with factory ivory grips. Sort of an "anti-Dick Tracy" gat.

    Have not put a tape on it , but it is called a 2-inch. Could be an illusion , 1 inch in the frame and 1 inch out , maybe ? Could be 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 and just called a 2 .

    The reason the Commando barrel looks so short is because the frame is so much larger than the Det. Spl.
