Has anyone ever seen an Ammo and/or weapons storage crate like this before?

I picked this up the other day at a garage sale. I did some research on the latch company and it said that they once worked with the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft company and utilized their entire production towards the WWII war effort. The only markings on the box itself was the "White House" placard. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? As always, any help is appreciated. Attachment 40604Attachment 40605Attachment 40606

No idea what it is, but I know what it is not - nothing to do with weapons or ammo.

I had a feeling it was not. I was thinking perhaps aircraft parts or something along those lines. Thank you for the help!

If I had to guess, aerial camera gear and/or large format film storage. Very important stuff!

The White house part intrigued me as well but I could not for the life of me find any information. The folks I bought it from knew nothing about it but I have a thing for storage containers so I just had to have it.

I don't know definitively, but that looks modern to me. Those recessed chrome handles and latches don't look old at all to me. If that is felt inside, then I would say it is less than 20yrs old. At my work we move electronics around all the time, and our current boxes are blow molded Hardigg cases. Previously we had a local company custom build sets of boxes to a set of agreed drawings. That company used black hard but somewhat cushiony foam linings. It isn't a hard stretch to think they would have used thick felt if they could have gotten away with it.

'Whitehouse' could be a previous owners name.
