Looks like the barrel is too long to begin with but no pics to proove this theory. The heat shield is indeed butchered as eluded to and a second one put in front. Two for the price of one. The whole thing is suspect in my eyes...Specially if the barrel comes to the front of the bayonet mount. The stampings don't mean anything on this one. The so called CYL marking isn't pictured, could be hand stamped...on and on...

The underside of the barrel, where the heatshield attaches has been butchered for different positions with the screws.

They don't look like the correct screws from here either...but all very hard to see clearly. Just not a good example.

Weellllll......a fake , and a poor one at that. Busted stock . Two sets of mounting grooves . They say the handguard was " repaired " to explain away the poor fit and finish . Does not explain away why the handguard went from a 4 x 19 hole to a 4 X 18 hole . Maybe there is still four holes on the work bench ? Must have been on Geppetto 's bench , because original shields end right around the pump handle's rear , not next to the reciever. Maybe it grows with each telling of the story , perhaps ? :>)
Good for parts or wannabes , otherwise run , don't walk , away .
    Chris

The barrel crown is sort of pitiful looking. Definitely flat and it looks like there's some file marks still on the face. Not to mention the edge break attempt around the periphery which removed the finish...

    Heatshield

This Heatshield appears to be a modified Mossberg Heatshield - currently manufactured, and readily available for 500/590 series shotguns - for around $40.00.

Length, hole pattern, and placement of the "dimples" is exactly the same as Mossberg heatshield.

Can't see it in photos, but right side of Mossberg heatshield has "Warning, before use, read owner's guide...etc." roll engraved - but this could have been buffed out.

That makes the most sence so far. I have on here on an 870 and it's about right. Someone's sure interested though. Over $600 so far...maybe they just want the parts.
