    Gew 88 Bolt trouble

I haave been trying to restore my Gew 88 to firing condition. But I find I am missing the bolt head. Anybody know where a Gew 88 bolthead might be found? No luck on Ebay.

They are very hard to find and, when you do, complete bolt heads (bolt head, extractor and ejector) are very expensive, sometimes running as high as $125.

While the Gewehr 1888 has a bolt styled after the early Mauser bolt, it is not really a Mauser, it was designed by a Germanicon military commission using features of other successful designers - the Mauser style bolt mated with the Mannlicher magazine loaded with an Mannlicher style enbloc clip modified for the rimless 7.9mm cartridge.

Keep an eye out for sales of bolt heads, extractors and ejectors by "The Old Western Scrounger", successor to Gibbs, the original importer of all of the Ecuadorian Gew88.
