Check out the 1945 LB sniper. It has a 1944 serial number and Mk II scope. All the 45 LB snipers I have seen had MK III scopes and 90L series serial numbers.
    The serial # looks re-stamped.
Could it be a FTR rifle with a new receiver?????

Moderator Edit: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size. You can then grab the pic with your mouse (hold down left mouse button) and move it around to look more closely at various parts of the photo.

When I saw this sniper I too am confused. The mount, scope, can are all original but the rifle confuses me. The pads from what I can tell look original along with the "T" mark. The receiver and bolt serial numbers are both handstamped. I was thinking that it was a 90L rifle that was overstamped but the "1945" is a slightly small font than the 90L's I have photo's of. It mostly likely is as Superbee states, a factory replaced reciever, but would they go through the trouble of mounting the pads on a new reciever vs scraping the rifle and returning the rest for spares??

Sold for $5500. Might have been a good deal, might not. It looked like a nice rifle aside from the issue with the serial number, but I wouldn't want to buy something like that without the possibility of returning it and/or handling it myself. Some CRAZY prices at that auction, IMHO. The laminate stock Long Branch DCRA rifles were pretty, but not sure they were worth the prices. One of them was quite suspect--a laminate stock #7 .22 with a PH5C sight on it, and MP stamps which looked like they were put on by someone with a seizure disorder and an un-numbered bolt. I've seen some interesting #4 model .22 Lee's, but never one that someone bothered to put a heavy duty long range target sight on. Never seen one with a laminate stock either. I had understood that the laminate stocks were mostly on the DCRA's, but then, I don't know everything!
