Announcement The M1 Garand Rifle by Bruce Canfield (Special Offer for Members)

    Hello everyone …

As many of you are probably aware, one of our members Bruce Canfield, has published an excellent new book titled The M1 Garand Rifle

Here’s some comments from various sources…

“Pure gold...a must have for any collector, [and] the definitive work on the subject.”

    Bob Seijasicon
    Co-Founder, The Garand Collectors Assn.
    Editor, The GCAicon Journal

“This is the book I've been waiting for...a remarkable and readable resource on America's greatest rifle.”

    Mark A. Keefe IV
    Editor-in-Chief, American Rifleman
    Outdoor Channel television personality

“It's hard to imagine that there is any Garand information out there that is not in this book. Canfield has hit the ball out of the park. An almost unimaginable achievement.”

    Joe Puleo
Technical Editor, Gun and Sword Collector magazine

“A true tour de force of gun scholarship, this is the complete story of the M1 Garand service rifle as told by one of today's foremost arms authors and researchers. Nothing even approaching this level of detail has ever been published before. Documents Garand's production and issue both in the U.S. and elsewhere and has also given a level of intense scrutiny to the Garand's accessories and accoutrements. Color printing throughout!”

    Mowbray Publishing
Through a special exclusive arrangement with Mowbray Publishing, we’ve setup a unique order page for members of Milsurps.Com’s M1 Garand/M14/M1A Rifles forum.

Just the Winchester info is worth the price... like a table from the Pugsley files that shows the highest serial number stamped each DAY for the entire production!

Through out the book are pictures of some rare stuff and some stocks but more type on details than pictures. Those cost allot of money. On page 804 where they show the cartouches. the GAW is missing It still cost Bruce and is forever missing. Rick Bicon

I have been pouring over mine that I got from the Gunbook seller from the Albany NY area.
Just a note on John D Petersen.

My late Gramp--died in '57, was a Co Commander in the NY Guard at the Mohawk Armory, and later transferred during WWI to the Utica, NY unit that was being activated for Army service overseas. Mohawk and Illion are contiguous villages along with Herkimer, NY.
On one of his pre war orders, that I have to dig out again, was the name of John D Petersen from Illion NY.

I never read that Petersen was in the military at any level, yet may have had some status with the military other than just having developed the Petersen Device. Likely the Remington Society knows for sure. Was he reservist at one time, like my Gramp?

An odd coincidence otherwise, with people of the the same name, from the same area at the time appearing on a military document.

Actually his name was John D. Pedersen (not Petersen). He was born in Denmarkicon but was based in Wyoming when he migrated to the United Statesicon. He did not serve in the U.S. military.

Correction. Mr. Pedersen was born in the U.S. of Danish immigrants but wasn't born in Denmarkicon.

Thanks for the quick reply! When I dig that old order out, I'll bet the spelling is as you say.
