I saw something cool the other day, 1905 Carbine

Only milsurp in the rack. I looked at it and thought it was one weird looking rifle. Also thought it must be a civilian version as there was no bayonet lug, etc. Pretty nice condition but unfortunately out of my price range unless I do some serious hard thinking on it. I would love to have it to keep working on my Swissicon collection but I would have to reload for it as it takes the less powerful round.

Found out what exactly it was after checking my books after getting home. 9000 made, kind of rare I would assume. $800 which is within reason based on my price guide but at the high end. I don't think it is quite that condition, but then 9000 made.......

Very long story why I cannot.

Summarized it violates two of my principle self limits. It is not on my "list" and as a Swissicon rifle, it does not fire GP11

Most here that follow me probably know I can't stick to my self limits when presented with a bargain. This isn't exactly a bargain.

And finally, there is an auction today which has two rifles which make my list although I already have the one (postwar produced) and the second is a WWII modification of a WWI rifle.

If the auction falls through and the dealer is willing to take a trade in for the rifle, I may revisit it. I don't relish taking a loss on a trade however.

Only 9000 made yes, but how many of them still exist? Possibly rarer than you think and worth the investment.

I had incredible luck at the auction. I finally got a Lebel although it is not the one I wanted but at the same time is the rarer version. The 35 carbine. It's in rough shape but appears to be functional once I get a screw or two and the bore looks good. $130. I haven't found any Nazi markings on it but the numbers match on the bolt, barrel, butt stock and rear barrel band. I don't think the front stock or the base plate match but have to clean it up to tell for sure.

I am really on the fence with the Swissicon carbine. I'd love to have it but the price is much, much higher than I'm used to spending and I don't think my wife would be too happy with me. She's been pretty good but I've really been pushing my luck lately.

$800 is right around what they list for. Hard to mistake it for what it was. Maybe in Switzerlandicon they go for that but not here in the States.
