Springfield Armory 1903 with Sledgely USMC barrel

Local sale. Serial number on this rifle is 953xxx with a Sledgely USMC barrel dated 9-42 and is missing the front sight hood. What should I be looking for on the rifle? In terms on period correct cartouches and marking on parts? What is the going price for this model? Guy wants $1300

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I am pretty much giving up on looking for anything in shops. I feel like anything I come upon is ridiculously overpriced. I downloaded a copy of Standard Catalog of Military Firearms 7th edition and everything is well over the excellent prices. I just need to get lucky and role up on an estate sale or someone who finds a surplus rifle from their relative in a closet. People are just going bonkers nowadays with what they want for a firearm.

I see that in just about anything today.
Inflation, or really, the devalued dollar is causing
the cost of many things to get ridiculous.
Soon, the government is going to overstrike dollar
bills as $100, 5 dollars as $500, etc.
The value of lead and powder will go through the roof,
and my supply of lead will be worth more per ounce
than gold, unless you want to cast gold into bullets...
I wonder what can be used for gold fouling of barrels?

Hah and a fake 1903a4 sold for $3300 just the other week. I don't think that gunbroker prices are a good gauge of "realworld" prices. Just more price gouging with the fear that people are perpetuating with the potential loss of our 2nd amendment rights.

    Take a look at this.
Sure its clean but $2600 for buy it now?!?!?!?!? I may give you $1000 to $1200 because it is super clean and all R marked, but I think this guy is smoking something. It doesn't even have a grasping groove stock (which the lake there of should be correct for this serial #).
