The anniversary of Vimy Ridge, 97 years ago! April 09 to April 12. Sacrifice and Honour for our Country! We collect the tools used by troops in fascination and in rememberance. I hope that when we make a little profit from a sale that we remember those that have given everything and where this stuff came from. I think we are honouring the fallen by maintaining a healthy passion for preserving and educating others as they ask the miriad of questions pertaining the great wars and ongoing conflicts.
    Cheers and thank-you Veterans
    Jerry

I fear not enough as I see dark clouds on the horizon. Perhaps some will be sufficently cognizant of history to enable us not to repeat it. Hope springs eternal.

I recall posts of WW2 vets visiting Normandy, etc. They said it was pretty universal that the 20 somethings disliked Americans, but the older folks remembered & were still grateful.

    Wink

They are the simplistic type of overlay-ed images that bring locations back to their former Glory and the hell that surrounded them..................as an ex soldier, I suppose I am allowed to say "What did that war really achieve, except suppressing the Germanicon nation, which didn't work either, because we did it all over again in WW2 and beyond and still doing it. Investing more in warfare then in feeding human beings"

Off my soapbox..........now what military rifle do I want to get next??
'Tonight my men and I have been through hell and back again, but the look on your faces when we let you out of the hall - we'd do it all again tomorrow.' Major Chris Keeble's words to Goose Green villagers on 29th May 1982 - 2 PARA

Reading these comments has prompted me to upload some pages from a book produced in 1934 with images of WWI. Not always what we might expect.
