Convert 1917 to p-14 extractor

1917 extractors are more common than P-14 extractors. Is it possible for me to reshape the 1917 to work in the P14? Thanks

P14 on top M17 on bottom The former is longer so reshaping is adding metal on - with today's TiG and laser welding it should not be a problem and the heat zone can be kept away from the spring ear - unless its already gone and replaced with a coil spring - plenty of these to practice with! Last I checked the P14 item was still available from online stores and around the same price as the M17 (will have to check who). In the long run when they dry up, these can be fabbed from sheet and spring tempered + blued - water jet / laser cutting can make hundreds quickly for the entrepreneur (program / lot set up being the major cost). I would look to reshape the base of the spring ear on new parts to ease the propagation point. I hope this helps!

Anywayzzz ... the answer would be yes, the M1917 extractor can be reshaped to be used in P14. Just don't take off too much material.

Any side by side pictures or drawings out there to highlight the difference / changes required? I may have to cross this bridge sometime!

Have you tried to guy a P14 extractor? They are around.
