I did get a very near fatal gangrene in a German hospital about two years back. I was saved by a Saudi intern who saw me in my (ex) Para vest that I used as a pyjama top. He took pity on me and organised a kind of vacuum pump (made in the USA) that cost a packet. If he´d been a fundamentalist i´d have been a goner. But he´d had his initial training in the UK!
