A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Pics please? The more the better. Around the left side of the receiver and the wrist especially, but any numbers stamped on wood and steel help.

A PF number would probably be a no4 mk2 made in Fazakerley, Liverpool. Low PF number suggests late 1940s, 1948~9. I forget when the changover was offhand.

On much of the small parts I would expect a "Fxx" where xx will be say 49. That will also date the rifle

Pictures would help date it and say its condition.

I wouldnt expect a scope so its probably aftermarket.
